Kampung Laut Mosque

Kampung Laut Mosque is the oldest mosque in Malaysia and the Malay Archipelago. It’s design and architecture is similar with Demak Mosque in Java Kuno Champa Mosque in Cambodia, Nat Tanjung Mosque in Pattani and Wadi Hussein Mosque in Narathiwat.

The architectural design of the mosque was unique with a three-tier roof and top of one other. The amazing is the Kampung Laut Mosque was built without using a single nail.

It was built by the Muslim Missionnaries in the 15th century (1730) who were traveling between Java and Cambodia. It’s built in Tumpat, Kelantan. In 1967, this mosque was badly damaged in the great flood in Tumpat. After thet, it was moved to the new place at Nilam Puri in 1967.
