Gunong Setong


Gunong Setong in Kelantan, Malaysia is the highest waterfall in East Asia (1,422 meters). a dome-shaped granite complex more than 100 million years old. Here, the seven-tiered Stong Waterfalls, reputed to be the highest in Southeast Asia. The word "Stong" actually derived from the English word "stone" Early travelers were fascinated that the mountain range is made up of one huge boulder. The name of "stone hill" was gradually accepted and cut short to "Stong"! this is beautiful land





Gunong Stong, Kelantan (mountain)is geographically located at latitude (5.317 degrees) 5° 19' 1" North of the Equator and longitude (101.95 degrees) 101° 57' 0" East of the Prime Meridian on the Map of the world.





The thick jungle in Gunong Setong is home to elephants, tigers, bears, gibbons, hornbills and a range of other exotic wildlife, as well as a variety of flora and fauna including the world’s largest flower, the rafflesia of the kerii meyer species, and the endemic long-sectioned bamboo, a type of herb – gesneriad (Didymocarpus calcareous) and a unique palm species (Licuala stongesis).
